A map from the study of the Slovenian archeologist Andrey Pleterski
"The Slav's Ethnogenesis Model Based on some of the Latest Research
Findings " 1995
The map shows three basic populations from
the three archaeological cultures of the 3rd century BC, that participated at
the root of Slаvic
ethnogenesis:
1. Milograd culture (associated with the southwest
Balts)
2. Pomeranian culture (associated with the Proto-Veneti)
3. Jastorf culture of Gubin group (associated with the
Germanic Bastarnae)
In the opinion of the majority of modern
linguists, Proto-Slavic language was created by secession from the Western
Baltic languages. This opinion is consistent with the archeological model of ethnogenesis
of Pleterski, where a settler population of Pomeranian and Jastorf culture, mixed
up with part of the Baltic Milograd culture population to form the new
population- Proto-Slavic. The archaeological expression of this new
population has become Zarubintsy culture.
If we try to explain this model of ethnogenesis
of Proto-Slavs by using the Y-DNA haplogroups, in rough terms, we could say
that these three cultures brought in the gene pool of Proto-Slavs following
haplogroups:
1. Milograd R1a-Z280
2. Pomeranian R1a-M458
3. Jastorf I2a-L621>CTS10228
